Hi all, Ri here - welcome to the WSC newsletter. Every day, I send out exclusive confessions that don’t make the grid on Instagram. “Oftentimes I get disappointed by the attitude young people have when working in finance. E.g. I see how buy side looks down on sell side or how IB looks down on Real estate. Let alone the fact that finance people consider themselves superior to people from other professions, again mainly noticeable amongst young analysts and associates. My boyfriend is a lawyer, his parents are in M&A, some of the kindest and most helpful people in my life! I’m not saying this as someone who ‘probably didn’t get the job’ but as a 25yo woman who gave up IB in Barclays to become Area manager in one of the trillion dollar companies in London. Like, chill Chad and Becky, I make more money than you working 4 days a week and managing ~150 people while you’re putting in 100h in presentations. Stop belittling people based on their background, you never know what’s their journey or where you can meet them down the line. Start helping people improve, adopt a leader attitude even if you’re not an aspiring MD, and you’ll see how your life changes - from network to referrals landing you a job.”
